You've searched and searched, combed and sifted USENET and the Web, and what did you find?

NOTHING

It's everywhere. It abounds. It envelops us. It is part of everthing we are and do. Take any substance and what is 99.9% of it made of? There's Nothing on TV, closets full of Nothing to wear, refridgerators crammed with Nothing to eat, endless vistas of Nothing to see. You ask your toddler what they have in their mouth and what do they say? And day after day, year after year, our politicians are everywhere consistently doing Nothing, and saying Nothing.

Nothing is ubiquitous. Yet up to now, finding Nothing in this media so devoted to everything and anything has been the bane of the Internet. No longer.

The Experts on Nothing ..

Here is what the critics are saying about Nothing ...

"I have nothing to say, and I am saying it. And that is poetry" -- John Cage

"True knowledge exists in knowing that you know nothing." -- Socrates

"The perfect man uses his mind as a mirror. It grasps nothing. It regrets nothing. It receives but does not keep." -- Chuang Tzu

"Life is a tale told by an idiot -- full of sound and fury, signifying nothing." -- William Shakespeare

"Expect everything, and anything seems nothing. Expect nothing, and anything seems everything." -- Samuel Hazo

"Art is making something out of nothing and selling it." -- Frank Zappa

"Experience is one thing you can't get for nothing." -- Oscar Wilde

"I expect nothing. I fear no one. I am free." -- Nikos Kazantzakis

"When nothing seems to help, I go and look at a stonecutter hammering away at his rock perhaps a hundred times without as much as a crack showing in it. Yet at the hundred and first blow it will split in two, and I know it was not that blow that did it, but all (the nothing) that had gone before." -- Jacob Riis

"Nothing ain't worth nothing but it's free." -- Kris Kristoffersen

"To know is to know that you know nothing. That is the meaning of true knowledge." -- Confucius

There is a marvellous old Russian folk tale about a woman who screams her anger, frustrations and rage into a hole and then covers it with earth. There is a deep and powerful therapy in that.

Nothing Else

Respect Nothing. Honour Nothing. Trust Nothing. This is more than a credo. Nothing has formed and defined the western art world of the twentieth century. Our perceptions of space and time exploded with the famed "White Paintings" of Robert Rauchenberg. Our new perceptions of figure and ground were then later transcribed to sound in the unforgettable 4'33" by my friend, mentor and collegue John Cage in 1952. If you thought Modern Art was about something, think again.

Thanks for Nothing

Nothing is a run-away hit. Nothing is an overnight success. Cards and letters are flooding in from across the globe!
"There is really nothing to say." (Peggy & Bob)
"This could be the Seinfeld of the Internet!" (EM)
"Zero Mostel would have loved to see this." (Null & Void)
"Is Nothing Sacred?" (Liz & Kenn)

Plenty of Nuthin'

I do not pretend to hold property rights to nothing. In a finite-but-unbounded Universe, Nothing can be contained, and nothing is something we all can share. Here are some other empty places with much ado about Nothing:
Nothing.Net
What do you get someone who has everything? Nothing.

Red on Nothing
Red attempts to grasp at the limitless in this posting to Rob Bresny's RealAstrology site

Nothing Media Lab
From Switzerland, this place states "what you see is nothing!" which may have something to do with Marcel Duchamp. It's certainly something to do with the designer as a specialist for cultural semantics, all of which certainly smells of nothing to me! (you can translate this and other foreign language pages at The Babelfish)

Nothing Monologue
From Ballarat Community Radio in Australia, a long diatribe about very, very little more than nothing at all.

On Nothingness
This essay by 15 year old Jason Hunt is definately required reading for all who love and/or respect nothing. One of the more succinct writings in the long history of the subject.
